Champion Jiu Jitsu & MMA is the eastside Macomb County home of the Cascao network — the same lineage taught at Victorious MMA in Troy, brought to Chesterfield by a team of instructors trained directly under Professor Walter “Cascao” Vitale.

Cascao Jiu Jitsu is the international BJJ network led by Professor Walter “Cascao” Vitale — a 5th degree black belt under Mario Sukata and Fabio Santos, with 30+ years of teaching and competition behind him. Multiple-time World and Pan American champion. IBJJF and ADCC medalist. One of the most respected technical instructors in the sport.
Champion Jiu Jitsu & MMA trains under that same lineage. Their instructional team — Gabe, Nathan, Dan, Ryan, and Chris — teaches the same Cascao curriculum and the same technical standards that students get at Victorious MMA in Troy. Same positions. Same details. Same expectations.
The two gyms aren’t just on the same affiliate roster. Champion’s own lineage page names Victorious MMA as their Michigan home base — the working partnership between Professor Victor “El Torito” Torres and the Champion team has been built over years of cross-training, seminars, and mutual respect on the mat.

What They Train.
Gi Jiu Jitsu
Traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the kimono. Methodical, technical, position-driven. The classical Cascao curriculum — the same system that built the lineage’s reputation worldwide.
No-Gi & Submission Grappling
Fluid, fast, wrestling-style grips. The same technical foundation as the Gi program, adapted for shorts-and-rashguard rulesets and MMA crossover.
Lil’ Champions (Kids)
Anti-bullying, character, perseverance — the “#BullyMeNoMore” program teaches kids the discipline of jiu-jitsu and the confidence that comes with it.

Champion partners with Foxhole USA to make jiu-jitsu accessible to veterans — an extension of the same community ethos that runs across the Cascao network. Victorious MMA hosts free Sunday classes for veterans through the We Defy Foundation. Champion runs its eastside counterpart through Foxhole USA.
